About Us
Shelter is a family-run boutique property facilitation, project management and trade services business, delivering thoughtful, healthy and beautiful homes across Tasmania's Southern Beaches community and beyond.
Established in 2021, the business grew from a series of projects undertaken for family, friends, and neighbours. What began as a practical response to our own family's housing needs gradually expanded as others reached out for help with projects of their own.
Today, Shelter supports a broad range of housing and property requirements, anything from short form trade services to longer arc end-to-end property facilitation, all with a simple mission - to help humans create good homes.
Our work is carried out in the local community and with the local community, alongside local tradespeople, designers, consultants, and service providers. We believe working with knowledgeable and reliable professionals, nurturing strong relationships, and maintaining clear and honest communication leads to better projects and better outcomes.
When you contact us, feel free to ask about the principles that guide our approach. These include thoughtful design, healthy homes, a focus on inhabitants and housing as a right, waste minimisation, circular material sourcing, cost reduction, building smaller and better, energy efficiency, building biology, and broader sustainability principles. We integrate these considerations in a practical, unobtrusive way that has minimal impact on budgets while delivering genuine value to each project.
The Southern Beaches has become home for our own family, and remains the primary focus of our work. As the area continues to grow, Shelter aims to contribute positively by supporting the diverse housing and property needs of the community.
We focus on delivering good outcomes for the people who will ultimately inhabit the home. Whether providing trade services, managing a project, or facilitating an entire property journey, our objective remains straightforward: helping humans create good homes.
